NMRprime is developed and hosted at ETH Zurich in Zurich, Switzerland. This privacy notice will explain how our organization uses the personal data we collect from you when you use our website and/or services.

What data do we collect?

We collect the following data:

  • Personal identification information (name, username, email address)
  • Employment information (institutional affiliation, position etc.)
  • Usage information

How do we collect your data?

You directly provide us with most of the data we collect. We collect data and process data when you:

  • Register online.
  • Voluntarily complete a user survey or provide feedback via email.
  • Enter data into forms within our website.
  • Use or view our website (via the pages you visit and/or your browser’s cookies). You may opt out of this method of data collection by unchecking the box in the footer of our web interface.

We may also receive your data indirectly from the following sources:

  • Matomo

How will we use your data?

We collect your data so that we can:

  • Create and process database entries.
  • Manage your account.
  • Analyse user behaviour in order to improve our services and web interface.

How do we store your data?

We securely store all data related to your account on our server at ETH Zurich, in Switzerland. We will keep your account data for as long as your account exists within our database. If you request deletion of your account, the corresponding data is immediately removed from our server. Due to technical or legal reasons, copies of this data may be retained following deletion (e.g. backups), however this data will not be accessible via our services.

Analytics data is also stored on our server (On-Premise Matomo installation). Raw data is anonymized and deleted after 180 days. After this period, we only retain data in aggregated form (Matomo reports).

What are your data protection rights?

We would like to make sure you are fully aware of all of your data protection rights. Every user is entitled to the following:

The right to access: You have the right to make a request for copies of your personal data. We may charge you a small fee for this service.

The right to rectification: You have the right to request that we correct any information you believe is inaccurate. You also have the right to make a request for completion of information you believe is incomplete.

The right to erasure: You have the right to request that we erase your personal data, under certain conditions.

The right to restrict processing: You have the right to request that we restrict the processing of your personal data, under certain conditions.

The right to object to processing: You have the right to object to our processing of your personal data, under certain conditions.

The right to data portability: You have the right to request that we transfer the data that we have collected to another organization, or directly to you, under certain conditions.

Which exceptions may apply to these rights?

Data protection legislation stipulates exceptions to the above rights, for scientific research purposes, when the rights referred to are likely to render impossible or seriously impair the achievement of the objectives of the data processing. We therefore reserve the right to object to requests in this context. In particular (but not exclusively), requests to remove archived experimental data or entry metadata from our database may be refused to ensure compliance with Open Research Data guidelines.
